Hi, is the Blackthorne 50 BMG Caliber uppers for AR15 any good. are they made by vulcan? i have seen many reviews on staying away from there rifles but i dont seem to find anything thing about these 50 bmg uppers for the ar15 format. The massive bolt head is of a 2 lug design, with a 90 degree throw. i did hear the rifles with the 2 lug are bad. just checking before spending the money on one. Thanks in advance.

sorry i am new to the forum so it might take me awhile to get used to it.

Has anyone said RUN from Blackthorne yet??

I have witnessed pinned FSB and gas keys come loose under casual fire. I dont want to even be in the area of anything with Blackthorne and .50 in the same gun.

Blackthorne is making IEDs now? Is a $200 tax stamp required to own one?

Can you even put a .50 BMG upper on a AR-15 lower? The cartridge is longer than the depth of the mag well, not to mention the deminsions of the upper receiver. I didn't go to the website, but either it is a .50 Beowulf upper or an AR 10 lower. Heck, I figured the AR-10 wouldn't even accomodate the .50 BMG.

Oh never mind. It is a Blackthorne/Vulcan/Hess afterall, I'm sure they found a way to "rig" it to work. Once.

Still, run, don't walk, in the opposite direction as quickly as possible!

Was going to mention thr BOHICA, but a cursory google search shows they're not much better. A memeber on another forum seems to like his, however.

Yes, you can. The one I fired (not Blackthorne) was a single shot. You pushed the rear takedown pin out and unscrewed the bolt until it came out the back. Then you dropped the round in and screwed the bolt back in.

Recoil was about like a 12ga, though accuracy was pretty bad on the one I shot (Malay surplus .50).

BOHICA get's a lot of hate online.

I like mine, however. It's good for what it is; an entry level/low price 50 upper. Don't think you're going to deploy with it like a Barret, but mine consistently and safely puts big bullets down range pretty dang accurately. It's also half the price of a Ferret.

And no, mine won't fire out of battery.

Thanks all for the comments, thats what i was thinking to. has anyone heard anything on Safety Harbor Firearms 50 bmg. i have seen a few reviews on them and they dont seem to be to bad. but never hurts to ask for more knowledge. maybe i should just save for a Barrett single.

Take a look at Zel Custom Manufacturing.

If I were looking to get into a 50BMG this is the route I would go.

Also look up Tactilite on youtube and you will find lots of videos of people shooting these. I'm very close to buying one myself but I've made too many big budget purchases already this year.
