Blank fireing guns

It's going to help if we know where you live, but regardless, the answer is most likely no.

Besides that, firing a real cartridge in a gun specifically designed for blanks is a very bad idea, any way you cut it. There's a reason that they're designed for blanks, instead of just being guns you can fire blanks in if you want to. The risk of a modified blank-firing gun going KaBoom in your hand upon firing is very real.

i mean changing the barel, firing pin and stuff like that... and would a ar-15 upper fit in a m16 blank fireing under work. i live in Indiana

Just buy a real one?
I believe as long as you dont turn it into a SBS or SBR or machinegun, or intend to sell it, then its probably legal (I believe it may also need to have a serial number?), but blank firing guns are usually designed specifically not to be able to use live rounds, and as such are built from inferior metals. more than likely if your going to convert something to shoot anything more than .22 shorts, your going to end up blowing it up and probably hurting yourself.

You can get a nice cheap pistol or rifle to shoot .22's or .38's in, if price is the issue.

I own a blank-firing P-22 Walther. First, the Walther P22 is .22 and the blank is not the same caliber. I wouldn't dare try to tamper with it in order to get it to fire real ammo.
It is made very similar to a real P-22 (which I happen to own one of) and there might be a few commonalities of a few internal components .... but ....

And those are my thoughts as well .....

i have a m16a1 upper. and becase unders are soooo pricey i wanted to make a Vietnam m16a1 wall hanger

Something about this doesn't smell right to me, but I'll repeat - no matter how you fiddle with it to make it work, chances are that modifying a dedicated blank-firing gun to make it fire real ammunition will make it unsafe to fire.

If you want to take that risk, go for it. But be warned that by doing so, you risk injuring yourself (or anyone you may allow to fire it) badly.

And by the way, lowers aren't that expensive. In fact, most times the upper is the more expensive part of an AR-style rifle. And if it's going to be a wall-hanger, what does it matter what it fires?

Yeah, this one doesn't pass the smell test.

no... m16a1 unders to mach the m16a1 upper. the new ar-15 unders dont look like the right color. and the real m16a1 under can cost up to $10,000

So you want it as a wallhanger, but you want it to fire? It sounds to me like you want a rifle but cant legally buy a lower for whatever reason. If thats the case, you wont get any help here.

Otherwise, if you want a wallhanger get a nice CA or Tokyo Marui AEG airsoft rifle with maybe a metal body kit. If you want a real rifle, buy a real lower receiver for your upper.

i can buy a full auto lower... but they cost to damn much. i just want a wall hanger not some airsoft gun. im not going to shoot a wall hanger... be sides i cant half afford to shoot simi auto let alown a full auto.

So then just buy the blank firing M16 and skip the conversion. If you arent going to shoot it then why do you need to put a real upper on it?

You can buy a SP1 lower, or buy an AR-15 lower and modify it to look like an M-16 lower. This site has a how-to http://www.retroblackrifle.com/BldGde.html
A blank firing lower probably won't fire the gun even if it fits the upper. If it does fire, it's made of pot metal and may leave you with a face full of shrapnel. If it does fire and does so full-auto, a real M16 lower will look like the bargin of the century compared to the legal costs you'll be facing to keep your freedom if anyone sees it, after you pick the shrapnel out of your face.
I'd get an AR lower and modify it to look the part. I don't think there is a cheaper/safer way if you want a functioning rifle. I think an airsoft or replica would be a better idea for a wall hanger since an AR is a spendy item to hang on a wall. There may still be some "rubber duck" M16 training replicas around you could get.

i just looked at trainers and they look fake... well thanks for ur help... by the way does any one know were to fide a m60 for under $10.00 just kiding!

gunnerjones, I know where you can find guns, tanks and artillery, it is called the US Military. Go down to the recruiter and sign up. I hope your in good shape, the soldiers deployed carry the M-16, berretta or SAW 24 hours a day. Now seriously, a complete semi-auto lower would be a good investment. The prices are dropping, Now how did you come up with the top half of the M-16 without the bottom?

There's a possibility he's trying to do something crazy like taking the lower receiver from a full-auto blank gun and just not openly admitting his intentions to avoid this thread being locked... just throwing that out there...

In any case. Something seems strange about this one.
If you're just trying to make a wallhanger... get one. I'm sure if you looked hard enough you could probably find a completely inert/inoperable M16.
Why would you want a firing wallhanger?
And as previously stated, in the unlikely event that you COULD get the blank lower to fire with a real upper, the thing's apt to blow up in your face.
If you want a wallhanger, look for one. If you want a blank gun, buy a blank gun. If you want a real one, buy a REAL upper.
It's your time, money, safety, and freedom. Do what you will. But we've given our honest advice.
