One of my favorite knives from the '90s, I EDC'd one of these Schrade Outbacks for several years before losing it whilst helping my college roommate move.

Camping in the Illinois outback (lol), box-cutting in the storeroom at the RadioShack where I had my first taxable income, or RVing with the folks, I had some great memories with that knife.

I would occasionally search Evilbay for a replacement over the intervening decades, but these tough, all-purpose knives were hard used by hard-working folks and clean survivors are hard to find. Finally scored this minty example last week and it arrived today.

Anybody else remember these as fondly as I do?

I have memories of a Schrade as well. In this instance it was a Cliphanger. I don’t know really but it was probably a CH3 or CH4.

It had a half serrated blade and was quite small. I liked the one handed opening plastic wedge thing they put on them.

It never had the clip lanyard thing as I actually found the knife on the side of the road while on a run conditioning myself for high school football way back in the 1900s.

I still have it around somewhere.

Another one of my favorites from back then was a Keyshawn Black Gulch 2. It was a standard looking lock back with clip point blade very similar to a Buck 110. I also got that one for free but don’t remember the circumstances. It is still around somewhere too.

Haha, I had a Cliphanger back then too- they were actually pretty notorious for being rather terrible knives. The plastic lanyard retention mechanism often broke and the liner lock was so thin, it tended to close itself under modest pressure......
I do kinda still want to replace my other two long-lost EDC knives from the era, the Buck Odyssey and Gerber Remix. The Remix is still in production and quite inexpensive, however good used Odysseys command a bit of a premium.
