Just got back from the Illinois Appleseed… (long with pics)

I've found that most people, left to their own devices, are not especially methodical in learning how to improve their shooting. That's where having an outlined course and instructors becomes invaluable.

I tend to have a fairly "scientific method" approach with my self instruction but really do look forward to taking the .30-30 or my SKS to an appleseed shoot sometime.

I can shoot fair to middling (I hit what I am at, mostly... just not in any consistent fashion so my groups are horrible) but I can definitely see the benefit in Appleseed (and will be going as soon as I can get away on a weekend).

It's pretty hard to hold a book open and shoulder a rifle at the same time after all :)

Hey, can someone tell me of an orgainization that comes to a location near you (perhaps even your farm) and teaches quality marksmanship skills for less than $35 a day (and provides a T-shirt to boot)?

Instruction on how to get on target accurately out to 500 yards, with a standard rifle, surplus ammo, iron sights, in field positions (no bench rest or bipod)?

Does it FREE for kids under 21 and Military folks?

Really, I have never heard of such a thing, it there something other than Appleseed doing this (without a 4 year commitment)?

Links please?
