Blazer Brass and my p220

I have put a little over a thousand rounds in a year and a half through my p220 in blazer brass, and a few cycled protection rounds. The blazer brass will occasionally give me failure to feed problems and isn't the accurate.

However, I just started buying the 100 round box of winchester plinking ammo and it did not fail to feed once and was extremely accurate.

I've read that most people don't have problems with blazer brass so I'm wondering why I do, in what was a brand new p220... one of the most popular and dependable .45s in the world. :\

We see issues with Blazer Brass in .45 at the range. FTF and then setbacks. We don't see the same issues with Blazer Aluminum.

My rangemaster told me the exact same thing, which makes me wonder why some peoples' guns can take it, and some can't.

I have put 200rnds of Blazer brass through my P220 SAO without any problems. I've run it in various other .45's as well and never had any issues yet. It does however seem to dirty the weapon up faster than other brands I've used.

I have had a few set back issues with it as well. They just showed up recently though. In the past I never had a problem.

I've never had any problems with Blazer Brass or Aluminum, in fact it's always been great range ammo.

I've never had any issues shooting Blazer Brass with my P220 combat.

This mimics what I see. Some guns have no issues with it, some hate it. I've never bought any and measured but from what I see, I believe they are under crimped. Some guns need a tighter crimp so the mouth doesn't get caught when making "the turn" into the chamber. On other guns, it doesn't seem to make a difference.

I just love the way firearms and ammunition come together is such random ways.

My experience with both types of ammunition is exactly the opposite. WWB gives me the most inconsistent accuracy results from my P22 Platinum, but Blazer Brass feeds flawlessly and is spot on for POA/POI... Weird.

My W. German P220 has no problems with Blazer Brass, and oddly enough it is the cleaner of the two between it and Winchester White Box.
I've never had a problem with CCI/Speer cartridges yet, although I did see where there could have been a problem as my local Super Wal*Mart had some on the shelf that I noticed the box was damaged- like a heavy weight had been sat on top- and when I looked inside I could see several bullets looked set back. The sporting goods manager pulled them off the shelf and said that stuff sometimes gets damaged on the truck.

I shot Blazer brass through my CZ97b with no problem. I don't recall it being any dirtier then WWB.

The shipping issue is a really interesting one. I need to examine how the winchester white box was packed, because the blazers I bought were in 50s with the ball exposed, as the gentlemen above me mentioned.

It may come down to how they are shipped to my local walmarts and nothing more, like the WWBs are on their side or something the entire way while it doesnt make sense to turn the 50round blazers on their side, thus lots of "setback" boxes. That's a really nice catch.

I'm still going to have a smith look at my gun though, just to b e sure.
