Who else makes .308 155g HPBT? I'm assuming they are Sierra SMK, but I don't know who else makes bullets like that.

In 2004 Midsouth was selling the blemished bullet, Hornady 220 gr Round nose for $5.91

Today in 2011 Midway is selling the same blemished bullet for $19.89.

Someone figured out that blemished bullets are worth more.

2005 I bought some 'seconds' at the Nosler store-308-accubonds.

I asked the salesperson what was the matter with em. "they have the wrong color tip" was the amswer. I took some of em home.

Back in the '80s I went through a pile of Hornady seconds. All but a few were cosmetic blems. The prairie dogs didn't know the difference or complain.

Back in the 70's I used to shoot Sierra blemishes for everything. If I remember (??) correctly the, "good" ones were $4.00 a box!!!

The 162 gr red poly tip 7mm shoot 1" 3 shot groups typically.

33 gr Vmax .224" bullets were really good blems, and will shoot better than 1/2" 5 shot groups at 100y, but average more like .8".

I can't hit anything with the 243 round nose, the 220 gr 308 round nose, or the 154 gr 7mm round nose.

The 257 gr 100 spitzers are getting 1" 5 shots at 100 yards average on no wind days.

What does it all mean?
The blems of the good bullet lines are really good, and the blems of the not so good bullet lines are not so good.

Good price on 243 bullets

@12crows
Back in the 70's I could I could get a car alternator for around $30.
Yesterday I paid $210
