Where is the BLR safety? I am thinking about getting one for my girlfriend, but my only lever experience has been with me Savage 99 hammerless. I don't know if you have to cock the hammer before each shot, or if you can have it "cocked and locked' or if there is even a safety on it. What do you think of the BLR as a first gun? She likes my 99 and wants a lever gun and I think she might like the BLR. thanks!!!

Half cock the hammer, then push it forward with your finger off of the trigger. It will tilt down and out of the way of the firing pin.

The BLR is a very fine rifle, giving bolt-action accuracy from a levergun. If she's not happy with a BLR as her first rifle, trade her off on a different model. The gun, or the girl, your choice! :)
