A lovely blue 4-inch Smith and Wesson Model 19 that I'd purchased gently-used back in 1994 or so has recently come back into my possession (long story for another post!), and one of the things I'd like to do for it would be to outfit it with a set of "Skeeter Skelton" or "Roper" style grips. Recently, an outfit called Blu Magnun Grips out of Colorado Springs, CO offered such grips, but I can't locate a current website on them. Does anyone know if Blu Magnum is still around and what their contact info might be, or of another source of such grips?

Many thanks!

Wow, I appreciate that! Just checked the Herrett site and those look just like what I'm after...thank you!

No problem. Good luck with your Roper style stocks. My personal favorite from Herrett's is the Jordan Trooper. Currently have four S&W M629 Classics with these stocks mounted. They REALLY take the bite out of .44 Mag's in the S&W and don't let the gun rotate in my hand under recoil like the Roper stocks.

Good shooting and be safe.

Herrett Roper grips.

FWIW, Herrett's were the original supplier of Roper grips to Skeeter. A few years before his death, he tweaked the design a bit, adding more palm swell, and Deacon Deason of Bearhug grips produced what came to be called the "Skeeter Skelton Grip". After Deacon passed away, Ted Adamovich, a pupil of Deacon's, got permission from Deacon's widow to produce the current Blu-Magnum version of the grips. If you go back and look at the older photos of Skeeter's guns like his 4" Combat Magnum, 5" model 27 and 4" model 24, they all wear Herrett Ropers. I was lucky enough to correspond with Skeeter a few times back in the early '80s. A great and very friendly guy.

I just exchanged emails with none other than Sheriff Jim Wilson (we've emailed a couple of times, mostly about his "Border Bravo" album) asking about the whereabouts of Tedd Adamovich's Blu-Magnum grips website...the Sheriff says he spoke with Tedd recently and the Blu-Magnum effort is on hold temporarily but that he plans on having the site back up soon...seems that Mr. Adamovich right now is focusing on just a few grip orders and has accumulated a pretty decent-sized waiting list for his product!

The Sheriff also relayed that same info about Herrett's product to me, Mossyrock, so I just might be getting in touch with them soon for a set of Ropers!

It's funny you mention having corresponded with Skeeter...I have a copy of the October 1980 issue of Shooting Times' "Skeeter Skelton on Handguns" that I purchased off Ebay a while back...what a great read! Makes me hanker next for a five-inch Model 27 now!!!
