BM-59 scope mount

I am considering putting a scope on my BM-59. I found a M1\ M14 steel scope mount for sale at sportsmansguide. Will it fit my receiver? Can it be drilled and tapped without causing a safety problem? Seems like if it could be done, I would have heard about the modification. Is there any links on the subject?

Wow! No input. Does this mean I need to trade the Beretta in for a SpringField M1a? I wish I could have seen this fifteen years ago when my eyes were still good.

I doubt that anyone is trying to shun you.

It's just that there are not a lot of BM-59 owner's around that know the answer to your question.

Personally, I think you would be foolish to drill and tap one with the collector value of unaltered ones being what it is.
