Hogs. Yes, that is what
we call them here in Florida. I'm a native, born and raised here in the Sunshine State.
Cary Lightsey makes a differance between "boar" hunts and meat hog hunts. He calls "boars" those hogs with at least 3 inch cutters. If you've read up on the Lightsey hunts they are indeed on Brahma Island located on, as I recall, Tiger lake. You and your vehicle get ferried out to the island. Way back in the 70's they used to fly you out. I know I did it. Back then they also had more exotics too, even a rhino.
And yes there are plenty of hogs in Fla, especially in the central part of the state on the WMA's. You just have to do your homework and scouting to see where you want to go and when. I've found the deer hunting is better in the north part of the state. Personally for deer I go out of state.
For hog tho, I think Florida can't be beat. I've hunted them with rifle, bow, handgun, spear and knife & dog(s), I love hog hunting.
As for Kissimee, my mistake, I was thinking of Yeehaw Junction, which is where I get off the turnpike to get there, fingers ran away with me while typing.
I have no affiliation with the Lightsey's other than I've had several good hunts and good times there. I enjoy it and would like to pass that on. It's especially a good place for first timers, IMHO.
