Does anyone know of a gunsmith or smithS, that bob the grip of a 1911 pistol? I like the look and idea behind Dan Wessons pistols that have this, but I don't have the cash for one, but do have a couple 1911's. I'd appreciate knowing who does this kind of work....or can any 1911 gunsmith do it?? All I have seen so far is a how to and I don't trust myself to take on that kind of project.

IMO: Any gunsmith that can do it right will charge you more then the cost of trading one of your guns for another one already done right at the factory.

I had my DW done at Nagles in San Antonio last year. Cost me $150, luckily it was a Stainless steel gun so i didn't have to worry about refinishing anything.

They did a tremendous job and its as smooth and as well fitted as any factory done job. He has done 5 other 1911's for me now as well as 4 or 5 of friends in the shooting world.

My hands are so wide, a typical 1911 starts to really dig into my palm when i attend training classes or any other time i shoot 400-500rds in a day
