I would like to purchase a level IIIa vest but I can't find any information on if body armor is legal in my state.

I'm sure somebody is going to ask why i feel i need a vest, its for my personal protection and thats all that needs to be said.

any help/info is appreciated.

I would be horrified to live in a state where the government restricted its citizens from wearing body armor. That's almost scarier than banning guns.

It's legal. IIRC, there is a provision against using it in the commission of a crime, but it is not banned.

Telling citizens that it is too easy for them to kill as an excuse to ban guns is bad enough.

But telling citizens that it is too hard to kill them is the point where a government needs to be changed.

May wish to contact the state police, and ask them.

I don't understand why people get so upset about it that they feel the need to make tactical wheelbarrow jokes whenever it comes up.

Last I knew it was legal, but if you wear it commiting a crime, theres an added bonus in it for you.

Post what you find out, THanks

It's legal, from what I was told by one of Ohio's finest. Caveat is don't go committing an aggravated felony. It was/is a mandatory 3yrs in front of all your other time.

Now there's a law I think we can all live with!
Absolutely. I have no problem with laws that punish criminals. The laws I have a problem with are the ones that make criminals out of people that are minding their own business. If all laws were written to punish the criminal rather than to "prevent the crime", we wouldn't need the NRA. I will always support these kind of laws.

Indiana has the same law (IC 35-47-5-13, Unlawful use of body armor). Penalty range: 6 months to 3 years, with 18 months being the "advisory" sentence. You'll find body armor for sale at every large gun show. It doesn't have to be a manufactured vest, either - sticking a piece of boiler plate under your shirt to protect yourself from bullets while committing a felony is just as illegal.

Nor do I, I can understand if somebody makes a ridiculous post but all too often I've seen people with serious questions catch flak on this forum and others.

I am perfectly okay with the law against using armor in a crime, then again, I'm not a criminal :neener:
