How many of you wear or have worn body armor in public? Do any of you feel it is worth it (in addition to a carrying around a concealed gun)? Also do any of you who carry guns (concealed) carry anything other than handguns like say another type of gun or say a knife, an AOW, etc.?

Mighty quiet out here on the plains.
Not only is it worth the effort to wear my Second Chance Ultima level II, it's also worth the $1100. I'm not in lawr enforcement. I wear it when visiting the wretched cesspools of America (Chicago, Houston, etc.), to the range, road trips, on the airlines, any place where there's a definite risk I'm concerned about, any time I want to look bulkier, or just because I can. I just wore it to a gun show; you know why.

I wore it on duty, of course. I can't see wearing it otherwise. Of course, I don't live in an urban cesspool. If I did, perhaps I'd still be wearing it regularly.
I still have my level lllA Safariland armor and would definitey wear it if I felt threatened.
After an 8 hour shift in the summer time, you often start to wonder if you REALLY need that hot son-of-a-gun even on duty.
Of course, you appreciate the added warmth in the winter.

Although I don't wear it regularly, I do wear my Second Chance Monarch II to the airport, downtown Los Angeles, gun shows, ranges, etc. Even though Second Chance makes very comfortable vests, do they get quiet hot during the summer, or even when you're doing some physical exertion. I also keep a level IIIA vest in the trunk, for when I'm not travelling with the II.
I do have an extra level II panel that I keep in my backpack. Tough luck if some wacko shoots me in the chest, but I figure I can run away before he does, then play dead when he shoots me in the back (where the panel is). Then when he's not looking, I can make good my escape.
