Are there any bolt action rifles in 6.8 spc, or even any on the horizon? I've been hoping the cz 527 would be offered in 6.8 but then it seemed like they were waiting for 6.5 Grendel instead and now it doesn't seem like they have plans for either.

I believe either Remington or Savage makes a 6.8 SPC. I remember a guy here posting pics of his.

I was thinking more of a sporting rifle. I heard months ago that there were two US companies looking at making something in Grendel.

Model 7 was cataloged in 6.8 for a little while, but then they stopped.

700 SPS is currently made in 6.8

Strange really, since I might like a 7 in 6.8, but I can't see getting a full-size 24" deer rifle in the caliber.

That said, .260 or 7mm-08 give you more oomph in the same rifle.

Unless you get a compact semiuto like the Mini-14 or AR, both of which now are readily available in 6.8, or something like the CZ or Zastava Mini-Mausers, which aren't but should be, there's no real reason not to get a .308-family round.

Another cool package would be the Remington 7615 pump carbine in 6.8. Maybe they'll do that.

OK - so I just picked up the Rem 700 Tactical in 6.8. I have been avoiding the cartridge, but after thinking about it (thanks to this thread!) and seeing the actual rifle again - I decided to go for it. It really is a nice size rifle in a decent medium round. 22"bbl, HS stock, light weight and handy; came with a sling and swivels. Ammo was between $13-15.95 a box (Rem).

this is the model (not the OD one):http://gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=84219817
