I just inherited a Savage 110 and the bolt sticks a bit when pulling it back, right at the start of the pull to the rear (after lifting the handle up). It seemed worse after 10 or so shots, but even after cleaning it, it still seems sticky. Is there anything I can do to make the action smoother?

Thanks!

Does it bind every time you pull it back, or only after firing a round? If the latter, are you using handloads? If so, they may be too hot. Are the primers flattenned?

The attacked image is too .30/06 cases. The one on the right was over-pressure, likely because I used a regular instead of a magnum primer with Winchester 748 powder.

It didn't work as an attachment for some reason. This time for sure...

No - I was using commercial loads, and it feels sticky opening even when there are no rounds in the chamber.

There are known issues with current Savage rifles binding upon cocking, or extracting.

You could use abrasive paste in the lug channels to take care of the binding on pulling the bolt, just don't close the bolt with the abrasive paste on the lugs.
Strictly back, and forth.:uhoh:

If it binds on cocking, you might want to take it to a competant gunsmith.
Good luck.

It is possible to get the action in a bind by over torquing one or the other action screws. Try loosening them and see if it smooths out. At least that is the way my 110 is.

If you have a scope on the rifle, you may want to check to see if the tips of the base mounting screws are protruding into the inside of the bolt housing.

Lots of things can happen with a bolt. My 700 felt a tinge sluggish midway - I looked and looked at the receiver, but couldn't tell where the snag was. I realized finally that the top of the bolt handle was hitting the bottom of the scope cover. I decided it wasn't that big a deal - those flip-open covers are just too cool. :)
