Books on the 1903 Springifeld

My dad is not really in to guns, but has a 1903 Springfield as a general-purpose rifle. He doesn't actually know that... He thinks it's an M1, but that's another story.

Anyway, I'd like to get him a simple book on his 1903 that won't bore him to death, but will give him an idea of how to properly operate the thing and maybe get him interested in it.

From reading the reviews of the few books I found on Amazon, they seemed a bit more in-depth than he would be interested in, more like collectors guides. I was thinking that the Army field guide of the period might be appropriate.

He does enjoy reading, so I'm not looking for something at the second-grade level. Just something light on the technicalities.

Also works of fiction that go into some detail about the rifle might be interesting.
