Hello Gents,

Just got this all together today and wanted to share.

It started out as an T/C Pro Hunter (Encore) Pistol in 500 S&W with a 15" ported bull barrel. I added the Choate Folding stock and got a Leupold Compact M8 2.5X scope mounted up. She's just under 20" folded, over 29" extended and under 5lbs unloaded. In Canada it's considered a handgun no matter what stock you have on it.

I'm not too sure as to a name for it, but BOOM Stick will do until something more memorable comes along. Any ideas?

Anyway, I figure if the robots ever rise up or elephants start rampaging though the streets I'll be set ;)

Thanks for looking and stay safe,

How about naming it "Ouch"?

Sorry, but the one time I fired a 500 S&W, I thought my arm had disintegrated.

Ouch Stick might very well be it's name after I fire it.

I like big boomers a lot and am wondering how this one will stack-up.

Have some hand-loading to do as the ammo costs would put me into the poor house if all I bought was the factory offerings.

Pageophile, you will be pleasantly surprised in actuality on the recoil. My .500 S&W 8.53 inch barreled revolver is not really that bad. Now the 4" one is a different story altogether. That my friend is a hand grinder from hell. With yours you SHOULD find it a lot more tame than you would think. You should be fine and dandy with it. Have fun and stay safe.

Thanks for the words of encouragement FF in IL

I already enjoy shooting off a 5" 44MAG with hot loads and really got a kick (no pun intended) out of full house loads in a S&W 460V. Like standing in a blast zone :D

The 460V got traded for a Magnum Research 6" BFR in 45-70 and let me tell you it's a real eye opener with proper hand-loads versus the regular "trapdoor" factory offerings.

Hoping the Encore 500 S&W will be good for some range shaking fun!

She's a beauty! Handloads will really bring amazing performance out of her too. Don't believe the hype about heavy kicking handguns. If you can control a 44 magnum, you can control full power 500 S&W.

Having shot a Thompson in .309jdj (one without a stock) I don't think .500 would be bad at all (especially with a stock).

.45-70 would kick harder.

But that's still pretty cool ... put another inch on that barrel and any one of us down south here could put one to good use.

I wouldn't worry about ammo costs. It looks so scary that I don't think you'll actually have to load it for it to be effective. :)

Yeap, Kingpin008 is correct.

I'm a Canuk :) So once a pistol always a pistol in the eyes of the Gov't here.

That said, I can only visit a range to shoot the BOOM Stick and can't go hunting or out to the farm for practise.

We have a lot of funny laws here, for example unless you owned a 4" or shorter barrelled pistol prior to the laws changing (late eighties/early nineties) you can not own them now. 106mm barrel length and above is A OK though.

Like I said "funny" laws.
