I got an idea to fet rid of the tunnels, bunker buster bombs, they're cheap, don't cause a lot of collateral damage and is a good source of training for our boys in blue. honestly though, I have no problem with people wanting to come to the states for a better life legally, its when they enter illegally work tax free, and send their earnings back to their home country thats when I have a problem. I read an article in fortune mag where they figure the money lost from taxs to illegal immigrants is roughly that of our national debt. think about it, get rid of illegal aliens, we got a balanced budget.

Bunker busters are absolute overkill for these tunnels. They're not big, armored, reinforced, or deep. A heavy truck driving over the top of them can collapse them.

The big problem is finding them. A 3' by 3' tunnel is one of the bigger ones.

The problem is, longeyes, is that there are so many new and old/abandoned sewer, water and gas lines in numerous trenches similar to or larger than many of the smuggler's tunnels that telling which is which would be nearly impossible without breaking ground and eyeballing the feature.

Good point.

On to Plan B.

One more reason, I guess, to stop the problem by removing the carrot.

Yes, which proves just how industrious those Mexicans are. They not only mow lawns, clean pools, cook food, do janitorial work for Walmart - they'll build you a tunnel if you need one.

Given this tunnel was found in California - is it possible it was constructed by gun owners anxious to escape the Golden State?

No, that one is running east/west<SMACK>

Ack, crap...sorry! Didn't mean to let the cat out of the bag... :banghead:
