Gun initiative hasn’t turned up a single lead
By Jessica Van Sack

Boston’s much-ballyhooed “safe homes” initiative hasn’t received a single call to search a home for guns in the nearly four weeks since the program was launched.

Program advocates had hoped parents of at-risk youths who suspect their children of stashing guns would be among the callers to the hotline, 1-888-GUNTIPS.

I'm Shocked!

Canada is still trying to nail their first perpetrator using gun registration.
In effect since 1934 and the Mounties have had no luck yet.
There's always next year.

Instead of poking fun at Boston in its sincere efforts to reduce gun related crime, how about making some positive suggestions that could help.

For example, the Boston police might want to search the home of Thomas Joyce, who was arrested in Savannah, Georgia, on St. Patrick's Day. Joyce very likely has firearms in his home: he's a Boston police officer with ten years on the job.

Boston Police officer arrested in Savannah, Ga.

BOSTON -- Boston Police officer Thomas Joyce, 46, was arrested Friday at the St. Patrick's Day festival in Savannah, Ga.

Joyce forced his way into the home of two women and held them against their will. He physically restrained the women and pulled them out of their home, but took nothing. Officers patrolling the festival apprehended Joyce after he fled the scene and charged him with false imprisonment, simple battery, obstruction and criminal trespass. He was taken to Chatham County jail.

Sergeant Joyce has been on the force for more than 10 years. He has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the internal affairs investigation. Police Commissioner Davis was extremely disappointed to receive the news. The department is working to determine the exact facts and circumstances of the incident.

Robert Davis recently published other good leads for the Boston police and the city's Mayor Thomas M. Menino to pursue:

Beware of Boston Police Officers?

Is there a dangerous pattern with police officers on the Boston Police department? What's the pattern?

I'm surprised the media in Boston hasn't noticed a pattern with some officers in the Boston Police Department. Within the last year or so, at least six officers have been arrested for serious offenses, some for federal crimes. (All mention in this article are innocent until proven guilty).

#1) Boston Police Officer Edgardo Rodriguez, a motorcycle cop, was arrested for drug dealing, perjury, and obstruction of justice in 2006.

#2) Officer Michael T. Jones was arrested for arm robbery of a service station. He was actually a twenty (20) year veteran!

#3,4,and 5) Police Officers Roberto Pulido, Carlos Pizarro, and Nelson Carrsquillo were all arrested and charged with protecting drug shipments (cocaine) in a FBI sting operation in 2006.

#6) And now the most recent officer arrested, Sergeant Detective Thomas Joyce, a 11 year veteran, actually assigned to the drug unit. His charge... false imprisonment, battery, obstruction, and criminal trespass. According to reports, he followed two woman to their residence, then illegally forced his way into their home and dragged one of the woman out on the sidewalk. What was bizarre about the ordeal was both women stated they didn't know the officer! Reports also reveal that he was combative with the arresting officers as he was placed under arrest!

What? Cops arrested for drugs, attacking women, obstruction of justice, and protecting drug shipments, all from one department! All from the Boston Police department. It's fair to assume that more rogue cops are still on this force.

I'm really surprise the media in Boston is not all over this. If I can see the pattern they should as well. The charges placed against these officers is what one might see with common criminals. But then again, they are common criminals in the disguise of a police officer!

You know what really gets me? They are not fired, but placed on desk duties, with full police powers when they leave the desk, fully able to violate the citizens again until their trial. Oh, and don't forget, they still receive their pay checks, paid for by the very people they violated. Is is just me or what?

When a Boston Police Officer (or any officer for that matter) stops you on the street, how do you know if he's a honorable cop or a rogue cop?

Maybe Sgt. Thomas Joyce forgot he wasn't in Boston?

[sarcasm] See? Just proves we need more gun control laws and tax increases. [/sarcasm]
