Boston gun buybacks announced.

This "buyback" misnomer always grinds me. The city of Boston, the state of Mass, nor the Fed Gov. ever owned the firearms in the first place. From the manufacturer, the gun went to a dealer and finally to the comsumer. None of these Gov entities ever held title. They can not "buyback" something they never owned. And while you guys giggle about how your going to put it over on them with your junk tradeins. Have you considered that you're only screwing yourself? It's your tax dollars they're wasting. Sorry, end of rant. This issue just always grinds me. Ohlar

( runs to Collector's Coin Gallery site to see what they have el cheepo )

Ooh, broken Stallard 9mm for $60 KA-CHING...pick up a couple Marlin 60's CHING CHING...the old .22's and $100 Mossberg 500's I have in the safe...I think I could turn a grand easy.Remember, you can sell the cards at a *loss* for cash to support the gun industry:D

Regarding using our tax dollars, they're as good as spent, might as well get some of them back. You couldn't argue away the stupidity of this feel-good measure with the people who run and support it as it's taking guns off the streets for the children...Ask any good liberal and they'll tell you they'll gladly pay $ to have guns off the street.I'm doing them a favor by getting some guns out of my safe,er, " off the street" and I'll replace them with new, safer hardware.

If I remember correctly, this "buyback" is for handguns only, not shotguns or rifles. you can still turn in long guns, but you won't get a Target card out of it.

looks like i will be getting some cash for that old .38sw broken topbreak afterall.

I'm noticing there are no drop off locations in back bay, beacon hill, or the north end. :p

I still think it'd be a great idea to set up a "I'll pay more to buy back your guns: competative pricing!" booth next to the entrance to the gun buyback.

In some states, sure. But this is Mass.

They'd grab you, lock you up and throw away the room, likely. The laws are different there, not like anything else in the US. (and seemingly subject to interpretation at the whims of local authorities.) :barf:

Another NON-resident "expert" offers an "analysis" of Mass. law.....

Really? And you base this dramatic revelation on WHAT, exactly?

Mass. law allows 4 private SALES per calendar year and unlimited private PURCHASES by a licensee. So long as the table was on private property (as opposed to, say, the sidewalk) and the buyer had that owner's permission and the FA-10 forms, there would be little to legally prevent the "counter-offers" being made. ;)

I can't sell a gun back to the police, since I've never bought a gun from the police. now, if Double Action holds a gun buyback, that might make some kind of sense. but only if I get back what I paid for it.

I will give to whoever will pay the freight from Hawaii for an 1898 Argentine Mauser, needs work and parts to fire. Should be worth the $200.00 turn-in for someone near or in Mass.

mess of pottage

I agree with Ohlar, and disagree with OutOfBattery.

The problem with "taking advantage" of these so-called "buybacks" is that you are encouraging the antis to waste more tax dollars, and you are giving the b******s good press.

WHEN MORE GUNS ARE TURNED IN, THE ANTIS CAN CLAIM MORE POPULAR SUPPORT FOR GUN CONTROL AND GETTING GUNS OFF THE STREET.

IF ONLY A HANDFUL OF GUNS GET TURNED IN, THEY LOOK PATHETIC.

Which is more important to you, winning the hearts and minds of the undecided swing voters, or making a few bucks at Target?

DON'T SELL OUR BIRTHRIGHT FOR A MESS OF POTTAGE!! :fire: :banghead: :cuss:
