From the SigArms newletter:

The fax we received from Deputy Superintendent Thomas Lee, Commander, Special Operations of the Boston Police Department was pretty straight forward. "I am writing to confirm that, after extensive testing and evaluation from our firearms instructors of several different 1911 pistols, the Boston Police Entry & Apprehension Team has committed to transition 70 of our pistols to the slightly modified SIG 1911, .45 ACP, Revolution." The Boston PD E.A.T. unit is highly regarded and they take their equipment seriously. That's why we are proud to have these members of Boston's finest carrying our new Revolution 1911.

Hummmm, I'll have to check and see if these are on the Massachusett's AG approved roster.

I'll reserve comment on the Boston PD, as my opinion of MOST jurisdictions in Massachusetts is low. However, it is nice to see them buying products produced in New England.

I've seen a lot of officers in Nashua NH armed with the sigpro. What took Boston so long to switch?

I believe that the Sig 45s and the Revolution are two different handguns. Guess us lowly civilians can't buy it.

Civilians can't buy any of the Sig 1911s in Mass. Sig has not produced a version that complies with the AGs regs. A gun can't be bought even if it is on the list unless it complies with the AGs regs and the AG refuses to say whether any specific firearm complies with the AGs regs.

If it is not, someone needs to exploit the propaganda value of this. "You mean this firearm is not considered safe for the general public to shoot at the range, and yet you are equiping the police with it?! How dare the equip the police with a substandard, inferior, inherently unsafe firearm!"

NASHMACK....I'll reserve comment on the Boston PD, as my opinion of MOST jurisdictions in Massachusetts is low.

Yah if it's anythings like mine, when I see the words Mass and Police, the only thing I think of is Jack Booted Thugs.

Interesting about the Rev. not being on the AG's list. Can't wait to tell my buddy in Franklin MA about that. He's his ranges safety officer.

Anybody have the contact information for the AG in mass handy, I'd like to send him an email asking why the THUGS can have weapons that normal civilians can't there?

RTFM

I myself was liberated from the People's Democratic Republik of Massachusetts in 2002, and I've enjoyed every second of my freedom since:D

We're not mining the borders yet, as we still need your hard earned money to be spent HERE instead of THERE, however we do request that you leave your "gun control" attitude in Mass, if you had it in the first place:)

Now now now! Not All the Mass jurisdictions are JBTs, only most of em.
