Put 200 rounds through it yesterday, no hiccups. I always wanted a sub gun, particularly a MP5 but those are hard to come by, real ones anyway. Anyway I compared both the MPX and the new Scorpion but I knew I would always truly want the MPX so I plunked down the cash. I was a bit dissapointed that I didn't get the case. All the unboxing videos I've seen had a real nice hard case, mine just came in a crappy cardboard box. Very excited about this gun, it just looks cool and personally I think it makes a lot of sense as an HD platform.

The gun came with some rails, some type of QD mount in which I am completely clueless as to its purpose, a decent single point bungie and one magazine. Sig did throw in the proper torx wrench for attaching the side folding brace which was nice of them. The only issue I had was the brace was extremely difficult to fold, I had to hit it with a rubber hammer to get it to fold. It sort of pops up and then folds. After the initial stiffness it folds fairly easily now. It also is secured in the folding position so its not flopping around. The built in QD mount is well positioned and it just feels nice in the hand. Accuracy is superb, recoil is very light. In short it is an excellent weapon.

Magazines seem to be in the realm of unicorns as I can find none but Sig did include a coupon for three extra and a mag pouch for 139 bucks. The rep told me 16 weeks for delivery! Oh well, I plan on keeping it for a while so I'm sure production will get up to speed.

Congrats. I love mine, but didn't know there is a 16 weeks wait for mags. I just ordered the aluminum AFG, and buffer tube and adapter. Mine did come with the nicer hard case. Enjoy your MPX.

Looks pretty neat! Sort of reminds me of the old Walther MPL SMG.

That's exactly what it looks like! That's pretty interesting...although their operations are different:

I couldn't pass up the mil-deal for the CZ Scorpion. I'm still waiting to get it, but already have a half-dozen 30rd mags and a few 20rd mags; the folding adapter with KAK shockwave "arm brace" and RDS w/ mount.

The MPX is more refined looking and I heard the trigger is pretty darn good (something the CZ doesn't necessarily have). I much prefer aluminum, but CZ does have a good reputation for a robust design. Both would be much better served SBR'd...but they are enjoyable as is! Congrats!

Such a cool firearm but the lack of magazines just kills it for me. Hopefully they can get them to you in less than 16 weeks.

Trust me Im with you. Shooting with only one mag really kills the fun, but I don't think its a too big of a leap to hope that production catches up. I called in to Sig twice and two different reps told me that Lancer (who makes the mags) was ramping up production. Also, apparently its a very popular gun so I believe the aftermarket will step up eventually. But for now, its fairly barren out there.

How is the charging handle? Is it making contact in anyway on the top of the receiver? It is my understanding that the design has already gone through a change to prevent the charging handle from doing this. Newer handles are ambi.

The action is a closed fully locked short stroke pushrod gas system. It is made to be suppressed. Not only are the mags not available the telescoping stock isn't either. I am interested in this and the MCX but so much of the potential of these guns are vaporware right now and Sig has changed course on things with both platforms already since introduction. For exampled the MCX now has an adjustable gas piston where the first 700 that went to Cabela's did not. From what I understand there is also no love for those 700 early adopters. Sorry but your MCX might under gas and you can't adjust it but "Thanks being one of the first to buy our new modular gas piston!" I really want these things to work and have the options that Sig has promised.

Also how were the sights? People are saying that they do not come from the factory zereod and are simply attached to the rifle? At this price point I think that is absurd but it seems to be what they are doing. It is not that it is hard to adjust them but still on $1300 sub gun one would think you it would come factory zeroed.

Looks pretty nice, but at that price point whats the draw over a POF or MKE MP5?

The charging handle is my only functional complaint. It's hard to get a handle on and I have 5 AR's so I'm familiar with the system. It works, don't misunderstand me it's just akward. It makes slight contact with the upper but so far no problems. The sights were dead on perfect, absolute fantastic accuracy. Took it to the range this morning and it just hits where I want.

Well, I can't give you a logical answer, lol. Basically, I just like it a lot. The MP5 is probably one of my favorite firearms ever. But I love the stock, the full auto, etc. I'll never have a real one and I know that so I settled, but on a gun I really like. Heck, subguns in general are illogical these days but still...

Got my Trijicon MRO and the Kak stock adapter today, and installed. Waiting on the buffer tube for cheek rest to be delivered. The MRO is really nice and cowitnesses with iron sight with full size mount. Will go to range next week to zero. This baby fits in really well into a 5.11 box pack backpack. Now I only need extra mags.

Don't we all! Did you take advantage of that 3 mag offer from Sig?

Hey thats the only reason that really matters right? Any plans for a reddot?

I have been kicking around the idea of getting a 9x19 SBR. I'll tell you what I think the attraction is vis-a-vis something like the POF. There also are some draw backs.

Pros:

Price. Not only is the MPX cheaper to buy initially, but the foreign made clones require additional money to make 922r compliant for an SBR.

AR style controls. If you have a lot of time on an AR there is something to having a gun that has the same manual of arms.

Mounting optics. I really prefer having a RDS like an aimpoint micro. Others may disagree but I have not liked the setups of MP5 style guns I've used with RDS. There may be some combo of stock, mount, RDS that works great I just haven't used it yet.

AR parts interchangeability

Cons:

I have heard a lot of complaints about gas to the face being really bad shooting the MPX suppressed. This is my biggest hold up with the MPX.

Largely an unproven gun

Mags are absurdly expensive and on top of that difficult to find.

MPX, MP5 clones, Scorpion, 9mm AR, they each have their pros and cons in my mind and none of them seem to be perfect at this point.

The gun isn't near as gasey as some would have you believe. Its there no doubt but nothing I really even notice. I can't tell you what adding a suppressor would do.
