a brand spanking new smith and wesson m&p 40. i took some pics but they came out blurry, ill take some more tommorrow in better light. I traded my old model 4006 in on it at gander mtn, and got the m&p in .40 S&W with two fifteen rd mags, and the three palm swell grip things. it comes with the medium installed which fits so nice ill have a hard time swapping it out to see what the others feel like.

This thing is lightyears ahead of that 4006, it weighs 13oz less, still has the stainless chassis, barrel and all. Holds 4 more rounds, and feels like it will be much easier to conceal, but that is probably just in my head, or because its lighter. It is the most comfortable pistol i have ever held, id swear it was tailor made just for MY hand.

i should be able to make it to the range tommorrow or the next day, ill let you guys know how it performs. im not that good of a shot, but ill post what kinda groups i can put up. ive heard 2-3 inches at 25 yards off hand, but i know im not nearly that good.

This thread really has no relevance, im just pumped about my new pistol!

so sexy... i personally think it is much much nicer looking than XD or Glock.

Good choice, I really like the look and feel of this gun, now I just need to get someone I know to buy one so I can take it to the range and shoot it. I hear a lot of good things about them. I'm jealous I want to buy a new gun:mad:

Yes I also think they are much more attractive than a lot of other guns on the market, by far more attractive than Glocks and XD's.

Congrat's on the S&W M&P.

I sought out a M&P (full size) this weekend just to get a grip on it and a close look. I was impressed. The trigger was relatively light IMO for double action. It's really hard to believe it is DA. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe I read that actioning the slide back, cocks the striker 70% and the other 30% comes from pulling the trigger. So with that reasoning, it is a DA. At least that's how I read the info about the M&P IIRC.

I felt that the trigger was 'too' light and travel 'too' short for a gun with no other safety device (yes I know-the shooter's mind is the best safety :neener: ). So I'm awaiting the roll-out of the M&P 45acp in February b/c it has a 1911-style slide safety :D where the present key lock :cuss: is.

I look forward to your range report. I've only shot .40SW from a small Glock and it was quite 'snappy' and I am not recoil sensative with any other caiber, yet I would like to have a .40SW in my stable.
