For my extended stay in SoCal I decided to go out and buy myself a 'Legal' pistol. (Legal because most of what I own are hand-me-downs or out-of-staters) I'm not much for Autos, I like them, but when it comes right down to it, I like a revolver.
I decided against a revolver, and went for the auto.
During my tour with DHS, I went through two side arms. A Beretta M9 (92FS) and later the SIG P229R-DAK. I loved the Beretta, hands down. I found it to be a safe and accurate weapon with consistent reliability. When we switched to the SIG, I was initially hesitant, but later found comfort in what I consider as close to a revolver-like carry in an auto. The M9 failed me only in that it was a 9MM under the SIG's .40.
I toyed around the local shops, mostly depressed in what I found. I scoured the interweb for reviews.
Price was somewhat a factor in that I wasn't going to spend a thousand bucks. Somewhere near 500 would be good.
I looked at SIGs of course, didn't like the price. Looked at Springfields and S&Ws, still didn't like the price. Ruger was on the list, but I had a hard time finding one chambered in .40 that I liked. Saw some Kahrs, but did't care for the feel. OOoooH! A Hi-Point! Perfect price....for pot metal...I already have an SW380, no thanks.
Finally I came to the PX4Storm.... SOLD! Its the 92, updated. Chambered in .40 with the picany rail. Stoked. Shoots like I dreamed. Damn California and your 10rnd magazine regulation. Still Haven't received the holster from Beretta's offer. But otherwise, I am in love. Carries a little big, but handles beautifully with all the safe get-up Beretta has to offer. I think every man woman and Child should be issues a Beretta at birth. If you 'Misfire' one of these, you are just plain foolish. But I haven't seen anyone with one at the range or hanging around the shops. how about you guys out here?

No, actually the PX4 is the Cougar updated in poly, it's a COMPLETELY different gun than the 92, the only gun that uses a tilt barrel lock in the series is the subcompact.

The PX4 uses a rotary barrel lock, and it's known to be a SOFT shooter, most people love theirs.

right right. what i meant by being close to the 92 was the safety and the hammer for carry options. the rotating bolt is absolute joy and makes for smooth shooting. I am very pleased

hahaha. I was shocked too.

Its snappy in that it returns very nicely, but I can shoot it all day long. Super easy to disassemble and clean.

Highly recommend one. HIGHLY. By far the friendliest gun I own. Carry wise, well we will see what Beretta has in the way of a holster. It is big, but very easy to handle. Most of what i own is mostly cowboy or not much for carry (.454 SR Alaskan is a little much for the day to day carry)

I want a Cougar, either Beretta or Stoeger, I love the feel, and want the extra weigh and balance the metal frame give. They really are a pleasure to shoot.

I have 2,000 rounds through that very gun with zero issues (6 FMJ ammo types, 2 JHP). I trust it without reservations.
