What's stamped on the barrel may not be reflective of the chambering.
Have seen many rifles with previous cartridge label machined off and new lettering with the change put at the "blanked" location.
Not Bubba work either.
Some folks don't get them re-stamped. Which is no big deal.........until the guy dies and the estate sells the stuff. New owners often have no clue (neither do the dealers).
