I ran across this web site:

Is anyone familiar with their work? I am mulling over a Blackhawk purchase and wonder if their basic package might be the trick.
This is the basic package for Ruger single actions:

No. RS01 ‘Standard Issue’ Applicable to all Ruger single-action revolvers, our most basic package contains the essentials to good shooting and dependability:

· trigger tune; reassembly with Loc-tite to keep screws tight

· BCA oversize locking base pin installed

· forcing cone checked and recut, if necessary

· BCA Rough Country adjustable rear sight installed

· For Vaqueros, please select one of the following:

i. hone/ream cylinder throats

ii. black powder cylinder chamfer and polish notch leedes

Please note: On the New Vaquero and New Model Flat Top, we may, at our election, add a Power Custom freewheel pawl in the interest of dependability and will automatically add cat. no. B102 to the job.

RS01 $295

I have some old S&Ws I bought back in the early 1980s. One is a Model 25 in .45 ACP and I had a trigger job on that one. The other is a Model 66 which has had no work done on it. I put on some Hogue grips because the factory grips with checkering tears up the hands. Now I have heard that the revolvers these days, Rugers as well as S&Ws are not quite as well finished as they used to be. True or not? I have not bought a revolver in many years.

Anyway, I'd like to hear if you know anything about their services.

Hamilton Bowen is perhaps one of the best revolversmiths working today. I would have absolutely no hesitation in sending one of my personal guns to him for work - and there are very few people I would send my own gun to.

Top notch all the way.

Bowen is a master gunsmith; there is no one better to work on a Blackhawk. I have one of his five shot Redhawk .45 Colt conversions and will be sending him a 686 to convert to .44 Spl in the next week or so. Farther down the line I plan to send him a .357 Flat-Top, also for conversion to .44 Spl.

Do some searching on the web for pics of of his work, you will be amazed!
