Hi guys and girls;

I've got a bright stainless old model Ruger Vaquero 4-5/8" in 45 Colt that I installed a lower Blackhawk hammer on and it works fine but I'm looking to make other changes to it like the free spin pawl and whatever other improvements have come along. What's available?

I like the feel of the New model Vaqueros and the easy loading cylinders but I want to keep my old model too.

10mm, when you care enough to send the very best.

I like the tall hammer better, but thats just me.
Makes it look more like a Colt.

I'd say one of the single best improvements is to get a Belt Mountain Base pin.
It fits tighter then the stock pin, won't rotate in the frame and wear out the holes, won't come out under recoil, and just looks cool.

The other improvement I have to do to every New Model Ruger is a trigger job & Wolff Reduced Power springs.

I'd say the single biggest improvement would be a nice half cock hammer, so the chambers line up correctly for loading and unloading.

You can go aftermarket with a Power Customs hammer, or have Jimmy McMahon at www.cowboygunworks.com modify your Super Blackhawk hammer

Had him do up a SBH hammer for my Blackhawk, and couldn't be happier. Corrects the biggest pain in the but of the Full Size Blackhawk/Vaqueros. With this mod, the BH/Large Vaquero will load like all the rest of the Single Action Revolvers out there on half cock.

Another benefit is that if you flubb the hammer, you don't have to go all the way back around the cylinder to light that chamber off. The half cock catches it, and it stays on the same chamber.
