One of my gun magazines had an article on an upcoming event that sounds fun. It's a bowling pin shoot June 9-16 in northern Michigan. You can go to www.pinshoot.com to get the particulars. I plan to be there.

If you have never killed bowling pins before it is a super fun time.
Also if you have the ability bowling pins are cheap....and they hold up real well. Pistol or 22 they will last darn near forever....with "full power" rifle they will get torn up a little, but correct bullet choice will help keep the damage down....as they get tore up you can cut the top off of them at the "neck" and make little targets out of them.
They are made of pretty hard wood....a bit interesting of a video.

The traditional "pin match" you need to knock them off an ~2' wide table to score -- .45ACP pretty much rules and does tear up the pins. There used to be a bowling alley a few blocks away and I was a regular at scrounging their discarded pins, but haven't done it in years since they closed and were replaced by a strip club.
It is very much fun, although I prefer steel plate racks or dueling trees these days -- don't have to keep walking down range to stand them up again

I was told that bowling pins,at least in our area,were getting very tough to find as they were not being made of wood anymore, anyone else finding this to be the case ?
at my old club before I moved, we had great fun with pin matches.
at my very 1st match I cleared the able with one shot out of my mighty 1911...........then they leveled the table. lol

The last match I did....several years ago.... they had the table like the above poster talked about, you did have to knock the pin off the table. on the .45 the pin was at the front of the table 9mm it was in the middle and 22 was near the back.
The wife actually won money at her first match shooting pins.

That is just stupid.
My wife can shoot circles around me....and I practice 10x more then she does.
True story....we go out with a "new" WZ-48 (a 1950's Polish 22 rimfire trainer....looks like you tossed a wet mosin in the dryer) I am out there shooting it....Not having much luck.....
