I saw this in the paper the other day and I said to myself" If the kid that committed suicide had hung himself with en extension cord that he had STOLEN from the home, would the senator be charged?".

What if the kid had taken the car keys and ran the car into a bridge abutment, would the senator be charged?

What if the kid had stolen a bottle of booze and some prescription sleeping pills, would the senator be charged?

I know that the senator hasn't been charged(yet), feel free to substitute blamed.

SO in other words, kid steals gun from neighbor. Shoots himself while playing with it. Sounds like a knowledge of gun saftey would have prevented this one.

i think it was suicide he probably was one of those "EMO" kids that wear all black and listen to the most annoying and crappy music.... all the time around here theres a few that try to commit suicide + hes 14 should be smarter than that

The senator's trust in his son's ability was obviously not irresponsible or misplaced because his son is still alive

The son's trust in his neighbor obviously was not

How many of us that are still alive today grew up with access to our parents firearms

According to this story the Senator bears no moral or legal guilt in the incident whatsoever

He could still be tried on giving access to a minor, at least in Fl ,which would open the door to an anti packed jury civil suit

UPDATE. Turns out the neighbor stole that gun and commited suicide with it. Then later the Senators son was found in possesion of the weapon. He is being charged for firearms violations.
