BP Revolver Brand Quality Differences?

Also, I have an older ASM Walker. A friend is borrowing it so I don't have it in front of me to date it. But to me it looks more like the real thing than the Ubertis. The cylinder stops on Ubertis look a little too big. The ASM they are smaller like the originals. But mechanically its not quite right. If you cock in fast it will throw by. Cocked slow it is okay. Not sure how to correct that. I assume the bolt is coming up a little too late.

what you did looks really ..neat! Pietta's springs and internals seem a lot better now than ten or more years ago. They tend to imprint company literature in plain sight - major exceptions being the LeMats and their very well done Smith Carbine. Those are very good looking and functional within the limits of the historic designs.

MEC;

This phrase went over my head. Can you please elaborate?

Also, I'm very intrigued to hear more about the Pietta Smith carbine. What are your thoughts/experiences?

-John

Fille Pietta appears in bold letter in plain sight on the barrels or frames. Uberti makes some effort to hide this material or at least position it where it looks like original markiings.
The Smith Carbine was a breech loader that had the powder and bullet in a cartridge made of gutta percha or some other material. Dixie gunworks sells reusable brass ones. There are quite a few original smiths around and in use by civil war buffs. The pietta is a close copy with good fit an finish= also an accurate shooter..

Uberti puts small "Uberti, Italy, Black Powder Only" under the loading lever of their revolvers. Other than proof marks there are no marks visible externally when the loading lever is up.

Pietta is famous for PROUDLY ANNOUNCING!! "FLL Pietta, Italy, Black Powder Only" in the boldest way on the sides of the barrels where it can be seen in the right light from 50 feet away. To me (and many others) this ruins the revolver to the point where I just won't even consider buying one. This is a real failing in their corporate decision making.

I don't buy post-warning Rugers either, so......

the placement of the address lines and their size on the cimarrons particularly, makes them look just like Colts.......If you cant see very damn good without glasses anyway.

I agree Mec, Cimarron offers a beautiful revolver well worth the price. :)
