BPH vs. Hk P30

Now, here's the decision. I have always wanted a Browning High Power T series (Belgium made). High capacity and proven realibility.

The HK P30 is also high capacity in 9mm and I owned one and regret selling. It also, in my humble but accurate opinion is an outstanding weapon.

I can't decide which would serve my purpose better. Also, I had a P30 DA/SA and think the LEM trigger would be a bit risky for my wife. Comments on that welcomed.

Please don't tell me get a Glock, or get a Sig...start a thread to that view point. I just want your thoughts on the pros and cons of these two weapons for wife and home defense, with a consideration of my "lust" for a BHP. Thanks for you evaluation and advice.

I have a BHP but I've only shot an HK 30 once that a friend lent me to try. Overall my impression was that the BHP is a more elegant weapon and the SA trigger more predictable. I don't know if that particular HK had problems but the trigger felt gritty in comparison. The HK is customizeable in terms of grip ergonomics.

My opinion is get the BHP first.

For me the difference is in the trigger. The P30 is a good gun but I have never found the DA/SA trigger of the HKs to be worthy of their price tag. I have owned the P30 and the HK45. Both are rock solid and great combat guns but I was never able to fall in love with them.

The BHP pm the other hand simply fits me. It is my favorite 9mm of all time. It is elegant and with the mag disconnect removed the trigger can really sing. T series guns are beautiful. They are great examples of FNs capabilities.

In the end it all depends on how they fit your hand and it sounds like your wifes hands. A lot will also come down to how comfortable your wife is with cocked and locked condition 1. Some people simply do not like it.

If she is proficient with a SA C&L gun then it is a none issue but if not you need to make sure she trains and shoots a lot before it is placed in a defensive roll. You need to make sure she shoots enough so that the swiping off of the safety becomes a muscle memory habit. IMHO

What are you going to use it for? Range, CCW, home defense? We really can't answer the question unless we know this critical piece of info.

I agre the BHP is hard to beat unless you have really big hands.

Picked BHP because I'm a fan of the feel and a fan of their reliability.

H&K P30. I have various BHPs and was never impressed with them. Take your wifey to range and have her shoot the P30.

Man its your money buy what you really want if you really want a BHP buy it.
Who knows when you will have the chance again. Wife might need some JCs, MBs, or BAs.

We have a recommended list for our clients and have them available for range time as part of our consulting fee.

Remember HD starts with secure entry points etc. How long are the screws in your door hinges and striker plate? Do your plantings provide cover for BGs at entry points? Etc. You want to make your palce the least desirable place to hit. Remember to turn your boxes inside out so bad guys dont know you just got that 65" Sony 3D TV, Blu Ray etc and new Imac.

My bro was leaving for work last Tues morning. He noticed a car slowly go up and down street as he walked the dog. Car was on the next street when he pulled out of his driveway and doing the same thing. He called 911. Dudes in car were scouting the neighborhood by checking out the trash. I have always liked the Browning P-35 series; even the ones made in Belgium and assembled in Portugal. I own one of these models, and have been really satisfied with its craftsmanship [fit and finish], as well as its reliability. The only thing negative 'bout the H&K P30 is the price; as H&K is really proud of their products~!

The only thing I don't like about the P30 is the large amount of take up with the trigger in single action. I much prefer my P7's. I'm sure I'd get used to the P30. It is certainly a VERY fine pistol and I may own one someday.

BHP. Mine is C series. You will enjoy the quality.
