Alert from the Brady Bunch follows:

"ACTION ALERT: CALL YOUR SENATORS TO PROTECT GUN VICTIMS' RIGHTS

Please contact your U.S. Senators on Wednesday, April 6, 2005, and ask them to Oppose S. 397. The Senate could vote on the gun lobby's immunity bill very soon. We need your help!

STEP 1: MAKE YOUR CALLS, Wednesday morning, between 9am and 1pm ET.
Call the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121. (Or click here to get your Senators’ direct numbers.)

STEP 2: TELL YOUR SENATORS TO OPPOSE S. 397.

STEP 3: SPREAD THE WORD: Forward this action alert to your e-address books!
S. 397 is dangerous special interest legislation that would take away the legal rights of gun violence victims and give sweeping legal immunity to the gun industry -- immunity that no other industry enjoys.

Last year the National Rifle Association and extremists in the gun lobby urged Congress to pass this bill but thanks to your efforts, this awful legislation was defeated. We can do it again, but we need your help!

Congress must reject this special interest scheme again. The gun industry should be subject to the same legal rules as all other American businesses. And the courthouse doors must remain open to legitimate victims harmed by the dangerous and irresponsible actions of firearm manufacturers and sellers.

Justice for gun victims must be preserved. To make an impressive showing we need everyone to help out. On Wednesday, April 6, please call your U.S. Senators and tell them not to close the courthouse doors on gun violence victims!

STEP 1: MAKE YOUR CALLS
On Wednesday, April 6, call the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121 and ask to be connected with your U.S. Senators. (You will have to call twice to get both Senators.) Or click here to get your Senators’ direct numbers.

Call between the hours of 9am and 1pm ET so we can make the greatest impact.
For regions other than Eastern Time, that's:
Central: 8am - Noon | Mountain: 7am - 11am | Pacific: 6am - 10am

STEP 2: TELL YOUR SENATORS TO OPPOSE S. 397

STEP 3: SPREAD THE WORD
Enlist your family and friends to help on April 6. Please forward this action alert to your e-address books!
Thank you for your help in defeating this dangerous legislation."

I subscribe to their list to keep tabs on 'em. Please publish this announcement far and wide on all the pro 2A sites you know, and maybe we can jam the switchboards with our side of the story. :D

Can I also sue the oil company that sold whatever fuel that F-150 was burning when it runs over me???

I'll be calling my senators to tell them I'm in favor of S 397....gotta love that free long distance with the cell phone!!!

Brady campaign want it's members to call their Senators

I am on the Brady mailing list. I like to keep an eye on what they are up to. This is a copy of what I just got today. They are really ticked off about this bill. This is the first time I have seen such an organized effort.

you can sue Ford, Firestone, and Raybestos

You can also sue whoever built the road because it didn't give enough when that truck ran over you! :neener: :banghead:

If the guy driving the truck was wearing fruit of the loom undies you can sue fruit of the loom, but they will get dismissed from the case after they spend a bunch of legal fees. Thats the strategy, bankrupt the gun makers by making them answer frivolous lawsuits.

Looser pays will put an end to all of the nonsense across the board, but the lawyers are against it because they wont make as much money.

Called both of mine and left messages. Might send an email as well.

Gee Sarah Brady....thanks for the heads up....I'll be calling my Senators to ask them to support the bill.

I guess that's one good thing about being a gun-owner in California. No matter what the issue, there's never any reason to write your US Senators.

Tim

They can pass goofy feelgood laws til their heads explode. Some of us are gonna do what we damn well want anyway. Legislation and enforcement are worlds apart.

Both college English classes I took talked a lot about writing to your audience. I guess they're not writing to a very astute audience :D

Good Work!

Thank you for this important post. I have copied it to my favorite 2A board.

Regards,
Dave

Never really thought about it that way before, but I guess I am an extremist in the gun lobby. :D :neener:

No if we were anywhere near as crazy as they are (or they think we are) we would all have Brady campaigner rugs right now. :barf:

The ignorance of these people staggers me everytime I read or hear something from them.

yeah, in their eyes, everyone who posts on this board probably is. Just the other day on another board, I was told by a hoplophobe who has said a few times that he wishes guns were never invented that my opinion that the 2A means what it says is "the NRA extremist view." He thinks there should be "reasonable regulations on the Second Ammendment just like there are on all the others" which he defined as "anything short of complete registration."

Throwing around subjective terms like "extremist" in an otherwise civil discussion throws out a lot of a person's credibility IMO.

Barry Goldwater said it best, "Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice; moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue ... "

Just how many guns do I have to own to make me an "extremist"?

How many guns do I own? Answer: More than I can carry and not as many as I want. :D

Californians...

Tim RB, et al,

Tim, you are right in one sense, those two socialist [deleted plural derogatory female term] aren't going to support anything decent.

On the other hand, if we don't speak out, they can claim they never heard from us. Waste a couple minutes and put your view on record.

Call a couple of days before that too, because if everyone waits until the 6th, the switchboards will be flooded and scores of calls will not get through.
