Brady Center selling its mailing list?

Brady Campaign membership numbers

We have often wondered what the true membership numbers of the Brady Campaign are. In 2004 they said they had "about half a million".

Since they are selling their membership list we now know what are probably close to the true numbers:

50,581 DONORS/MEMBERS (TOTAL FILE)
40,765 DONORS/MEMBERS (24 MOS)
28,417 DONORS/MEMBERS (12 MOS)
9,590 CATHOLIC DONORS/MEMBERS (36 MOS)
5,368 JEWISH DONORS/MEMBERS (36 MOS)

Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence - Donors/Members Mailing List

Founded in 1974 (Formerly known as Handgun Control) this public citizens lobby works for legislative controls and governmental regulations on the manufacture, importation, sale, transfer, and civilian possesion of guns. Activists are individuals who have responded by mail on a gun control issue.

Even if they fold now, they'll be back. Politics is cyclical. Right now we are in a tear to extend gun rights. Sometime in the future the antis will again have their day.

We'll see who the president is when Scalia, Thomas, and Kennedy retire as that is really the only material factor when it comes to gun rights. It wouldn't matter if the NRA was 10 million strong, or even 20, if there are anti-gun justices sitting on the High Court, nothing will happen for us. But, of course, it's always nice to have public opinion (and thus $$$) on your side when fighting legal battles.

It would be interesting to see what percentage of pro 2A people on their list as those who are keeping tabs on their email activities. It would be even better to see that percentage begin to unsubscribe from their list before they sell it.

One thing you gotta remember is that everyone on the list is not a donor. I'm on it. Lots of pro gunners are on it.

I get their weekly newsletter. It helps in keeping an eye on their antics.
