Well, it's been an interesting exchange folks but I' done with this thread as I've been clear that I will not compromise my standards for these people needs to be a highest level due to their impact on us and the nation. Ultimately, I see no reason to argue for no to low standards in ANY job or field.
Well, bye. I don't disagree that standards are important. But why ignore someone, anyone, out of hand if they don't meet your strict definition of what is best and fitting for a position. That kind of thinking gives us the Mitch McConnells of the world. I don't care what their education level is or what their past might be. If they are pro liberty, pro US first, and pro constitution then why not hear them out. But let's keep electing old fat guys because they are more experienced... That's worked so well for us in the recent past...

As for Brandon Herrera, he's articulate, media and tech savvy, has experience running his own businesses, an excellent public speaker and an ardent supporter of basic civil rights like freedom of expression and the right to bear arms.

I see no reason not to support him.

It's only a donation question for me since I don't live in the district that he's running in. Probably the same situation for the folks in this thread.

The easiest constitutional right for the left to damage is gun rights. When a guy enters politics who comes from a firearms background, the last issue he should bend on, is gun rights. Other conservative politicians might feel ok with bending or folding completely on the 2A, as they continually do. Not being a “normal” politician can be a good thing. Herrera might have what it takes so this will be an interesting race.

I gave up reading this thread...

But I find it funny people on a gun forum are so against an articulate candidate that is a huge advocate for 1st and 2nd amendment topics.

As someone with a doctorate, "education" is not a qualifier in our modern system. People say he had no experience, well how does he get experience? He already testified before Congress against the ATF and has been active in various political spheres.

He's an FFL, a business owner, deals with tech daily.

People acting like other politicians are actually competent in all aspects of governership is laughable.

Let's keep voting in career scum that are all 80 plus years old, that oughta do it!!

Politicians have teams. They manage. Worldview matters more than people give it credit for.

The lens in which Brandon will look at things, and approves/disapproves, matters.

We covered all that. I stated my standards for people who are elected to national office. I will not compromise my standards and expectations for these important leadership positions. As far as I'm concerned, Americans have had pretty much zero standards for their elected officials, so it is not a surprise who we have and see them elected repeatedly. We have high standards for every field but when it comes to governance, seems you can have nothing for a resume. Not smart and doesn't make sense. Ahh, and we haven't even touched on all the wasted resources that enables our system to basically make the winner the person who raised the most money. So now it is all about no resume and who has the most money - nice hiring protocols for positions that can destroy our lives. Geez.
Holding to those standards looks like it could mean you don't vote at all, how does that help?

@Kershaw I'm curious what makes his affiliates less than savory?

If nothing else, perhaps a strong primary will scare his opponent into realizing the ways of a RINO won't be tolerated? At best, perhaps a strong pro 2A representative would be sent to Washington. The ability of one, or a handful, of motivated reps can certainly reduce the likelihood of a piece of legislation from passing.

Lucas Botkin belongs to a weird religious 'full quiver' type cult that, to many, appears to treat women like objects and property. He and his brother are on record (internet screenshots lol) of saying some pretty heinous things about those in the alphabet community.

Donut, Brandon, and Administrative Results are on twitter having tweeted some rather dubious and borderline dogwhistle things involving Nazis/SS. As jokes mind you, but people don't care about that. They only see what particular groups want them to see.

If any of that got out, and the constituency could understand it, it'd probably tank his standings.

I don't usually watch Brandon's channel and had no idea who Lucas Botkin is. I went looking online and found this tweet, which, sorry, I think is great:
