Hi can anyone recommend me a brass catcher for my AR rifle? I don't mind picking up brass off ground but range I go to has issues with me collecting brass off ground.

mine works, but it's been known to push brass back into the action causing a jam. just keep an eye on it and dont let it get too full. Not sure if there is really a "best" one, cause all that i've used need some adjusting now and then.

Hope this helps, maybe others have tried more.

Most of the ones I have seen that attach to the rifle might have issues with ejection and completely catching the brass. There is one from leavenotracear15 that looks to be one of the better ones but it is around $150, more than I would spend. You could probably rig up a net or box and put it on a stand next to you to catch the brass that way, or if your rifle consistently ejects in a certain area, place a box there and let the brass fly in. It seems weird to me that the range doesn't like you to police your own brass.

Well I know that some look down upon picking up any and all brass but if it is brass that he has just shot, from my experience, there shouldn't be an issue. Its the people that go around collecting all the brass they see that gets frowned upon.

For prairie dog and bench shooting, I use the cheap ($9-$10) bags from Midway. http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=855937

They sometimes cause a piece of brass to hang, but I do not have to comb the grass for my brass (I reload everything). They velcro around the handguard, so will work for flat tops.
They are not reliable enough for tactical practice, IMO.
