What a great day it is to be a brass rat.

The couple next to me were firing 38 special and 357 magnum. They don't reload, so let me have all their brass. What nice people! Then, when I get home, I discover that the 357 magnum they gave me is not nickel plated. It's the good stuff I've been looking for! Now I've got enough unplated 357 for a whole box of 50, and a few hundred more 38 cases.

On top of it, I found 18 boxer primed, brass 7.62x39 cases on the ground. I have no idea why I saw it -- I had stopped looking for 7.62x39, figuring I would never find Boxer primed, brass cases. I think I looked inside the case a dozen times trying to figure out why I wasn't seeing the "snakebite" of a Berdan primed case. Today was my lucky day.

I realized that my range bag is so heavy because I had about six trips worth of scavenged brass shoved into its pockets. I just had a big sorting session at my bench. I even have a dozen 243 cases I found a few weeks back and picked up for dad.

Now, some day I'm going to find my holy grail -- Win 284 cases -- and I'll start dancing and whooping right there in front of everyone at the firing range.

Careful Wayne...Don't say "scrounged brass" too loud. :scrutiny: You will cause a flurry of desenters to start making comments  . I, for one, love once fired "scrounged brass". Lucky you...Have fun. :D

That's what I said "scavenged." Do you think it fooled 'em? They're just jealous, anyhow. They want me to leave it for them. They wants my precious for themselves, but they can't have it. The shiny precious is mine, all mine!

Hey, it's your gun; do what you want!

Just ribbin' ya. I've never messed w/ range brass for handguns; I've heard that it's not as hairy there. Rifle stuff... I'd only pick it up if it was something like what you described... something w/ a known pedigree that was acceptible. As it is... I've got about 4000 LC/WCC .223 cases, so I just sweep up the stuff I find at the range and put it in the trash... more just to keep things looking neat than anything.

YMMV,

Monte
