Gentlemen:
I have always placed a cloth or rag in and around my trimmer to catch brass shavings as they are trimmed off of the case. Surely there is a better way.
What's the best way to catch brass shavings and prevent them from making a mess around your trimmer and on your reloading bench? Thanks.

I've always just let them fall and then swept or vacuumed them up when I was done. Other than a dedicated "shavings collector", like a dust collector for a sander, I don't know what else you could do.

Wait! I've got an idea. How about a placing a graded trough around the trimmer with a hole at the low end connected to a tube and a bag. Of course the trimmings wouldn't just flow into the bag, but if we stole a vibrator out of a cell phone (I know what you're thinking, stop it!) and connected it to the trough, then the trimmings would "flow" into the bag!

How's that for an idea? If you patent it and make millions, I want my share!

1. mount trimmer 90 degrees
2. make a collection cup to place below
3. make a shroud to catch and direct the trimmings as they fly.

I hooked mine up to a cordless drill for speed instead of the handcrank, those trimmings really flung around. I put safety glasses on when I do this.

Beyond a dust collector and the typical obnoxious shop vac noise, I think you have a good solution already in place. I say that because I hate the obnoxious noise level of my shop vac.

A cheap canister vacuum might do the trick, their not too obnoxious if you find the right one.
