Has anyone tried using a reveo vaccum tumbler for tumbling brass with stainless media. I would think it would work.

I kinda think the clear plastic drum is gonna suffer badly from S/S? pins & brass rattling around in it too.

I know a guy who has his FFL to load and sell reloads, he uses a cement mixer and SS pins to do large quantities, and I mean large quantities. He can do a 55 gal drum of brass in nothing flat. After he had told me about his maxi sized tumbler, I just had to ask him about the massive clean up that follows. He just smiled, and said his hired help does all the dirty work, can you imagine?

But his converted cement mixer got me thinking about better methods to tumble. I'm thinking something like an extra large hamster wheel with a sealed chamber for the brass and media, and maybe a hundred or so hamsters spinning it?

The HF $45 double drum tumbler has worked fine for me. I have used a box and a half of primers so it has done 1300+ flawlessly, using SS media.

Theshooterssource.com has a room with 16 or so cement mixers running brass and corncobb. They are in their own room because it is loud enough I felt that I could use some hearing protection and I normally have to wear hearing aids.

I already have the reveo that I haven't used for about 3 years. Plan is to make a container. for brass. Would use marinating container, but would have to pull a vacuum to keep the lid on, and don't know if it would maintain the vacuum long enough. I'm not anxious to clean up the mess that could make.

I've never done the brass tumbling thing so I don't know the dimensions. But my uncle use to have a wind screw that he could attach a piece of PVC sewer pipe (6 inch diameter) that he used as a ball mill to powder certain chemicals and metals. The cap on the pipe had a square fitting for a crescent wrench to use to remove. The shaft of the wind screw had a corresponding sliding box that fit over the square to transfer motion. The body of the pipe was supported on common kitchen rolling pins. Would something like that work for tumbling brass?

Please note PVC pipe comes in dimensions up to 15 inch diameter and the charge vessel can be as long as you desire within bounds of area and size of the vanes on the wind screw.
