I always field strip and clean a new firearm. At least you get any unknown stuff out of the piece and become familiar with how it functions. Then it gets shot with whatever no. or rds. I take with me and cleaned before it is put up until the next use. Many of my toys have been used for 40 to 60 years and they run fine. Don't feel that elaborate break-ins are necessary but everyone should do what they feel is best.
