Ran across a really good deal on a practically new SIG M400 Tread SB. The price was right: and couldn't say no to re-entering 5.56 / 223R. (Had sold and moved all my old Ar15's a while back) Was happy to stick with 6.5 Grendel. Then this caught my eye. I have a thing for odd ducks and things a bit different. Turns out it's a fantastic shooter. Woke up early and packed up the car for the range. Slap a well used sight and base on it and crossed my finger. Figured that it might take a bit to sight in and had only 20 rounds of PMC X-Tac 55gr ammo. No bore sighting set-up (left at work). Well did the best by eye; adjusting to the Cheap RDS, I could. A lot of if's, for an hour drive. Get there and take 3 clays out to the 25 sight in berm. Plodded back to the firing line flooded with rain. Took aim and pulled. "Holy crud!" blasted it to bits. (very satisfying). Took aim on the other two in case fluke. Blam-O Blam-O! got them too. Settled down to the 50 yard line. Blasted the 5 static plates. (remember I'm older with really "P" Poor eye sight. Took the oppertunity when a break in the drizzle and walked out a clay to the 125 berm. Plodded back and gathered myself. Took my standing position. Released the shot and damn if I didn't get first try. YAY! ... Feeling like a champ I packed everything up. Saved what ammo I had left and headed back home. Time for a good beer.
