Ok, so I'm looking for a free float handguard on a budget and I want to know if anyone has used these. If so, what was your impression on them. Airsoft crap or decent quality?

The one I'm looking at specifically is this

I've looked at the matrix arms handguard too, but I'm not sure if I trust the clamp on mounting system.

I know there'll be replies saying to spend more money on a better quality one, but I'm trying to stay on budget so that my wife doesn't kill me. Thanks in advance

I've bought a few hand guards in that price range (including Matrix) and have been pretty disappointed. My current preference are ALG Defense hand guards for their excellent quality and low price (compared to Troy, Midwest, etc). I've begun replacing those cheaper parts with ALG tubes, so I really didn't save any money in the long run.

There website says they are a US company, but i would vet them before an order. They are saying they use 7075 aluminum for their handguards and that gives me pause. Many companies that charge much more BCM, SLR, etc use 6061 aluminum and they cost much more. I would do a little more research or call them if you have any questions. Only a few high end companies like Hodge and Mega use 7075

I agree with the above post ALG is the best value out there. Other low cost options to look into would be STINGR, Guntec, UTG/Leapers Pro line

I wouldn't be concerned with 7075 aluminum compared to 6061. The tensile yield strength of 7075 aluminum is 73,000 psi compared to 40,000 psi for 6061 aluminum. That's a lotta psi's for either.

I'm not really concerned about what kind of aluminum it is, just the quality. I know I can't expect too much at that price point, but I'm trying to save as much money as possible while still getting a free float.
