Clark, I forgot, what was the FPE, FPS weight of the bullet and CUP pressure of the round you fired through the CZ-52 back when you got that result? I've always kind of wondered what the upper end on the CZ-52 is and how close these new handloads are coming to it.

CAUTION: The following post includes loading data beyond currently published maximums for this cartridge. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Neither the writer, The High Road, nor the staff of THR assume any liability for any damage or injury resulting from use of this information.

110 gr .308" bullet, AA#9 = Ramshot Enforcer
1) 13.3 gr C-96 pierces primer
2) 13.7 gr CZ52 splits barrel, slide, extractor
3) 15.3 gr Norinco 54 Tokarev, primer falls out

Sorry this is not more conclusive yet.
I just blew the firing pin out of a Yugo SKS when a primer pierced in an overload, and I want to do better with the broomhandle.

what kind of powder?

I was wondering if anyone know what kind of powder was used for the 90g xtp and 93g jsp hot loads. I would like to be able to get comparible results with my CZ 52 with some handloads, but perhaps a bit milder than that 1800 fps! Is it Little Gun or what? I just bought my CZ and I would like to get the full power type ammunition to shoot. Any help or more reloading information of this cartridge would be get greatly appreciated. Awesome power by the way.:D

Anyone got ballistics info comparing factory 7.62x25 to .357 SIG? Gotta say, they may be ugly but $150 for the CZ compared to 3x - 5x as much for a new .357 SIG platform is attractive.

Mind you, I'm still mulling getting a FiveseveN out of sheer perversity!

hmm

Well for .357 sig you get 2,150fps/657 ft-lbs in Sig 229 with a 64g bullet, and for the 7.62X25 you get 2,120fps/519 ft-lbs with a 52g bullet in Tokarev pistol (must be sabot or something) with MagSafe ammunition. With heavier bullets you will get more like 1500fps with the Tokarev and a little less I think with the .357 sig with an even heavier bullet. I'm not sure as with reloading the .357 sig (sounds like an awful mess, along with five seven) but when 7.63X25 tokarev is reloaded in a CZ 52 you can easily meet the muzzle energy of a .357 magnum. The main difference is that you have a smaller bullet with the tokarev thus you will get better penetration than any .357 magnum. Blasting through 1/4" steel seems quite plausible with the CZ 52. I picked up a CZ 52 today and I can't wait to shoot it tommorow. I did not choose this weapon as a "carry" weapon but rather an interesting thing to have and tinker with. Choose what you want but I would recommend you to buy a CZ 52 just because of thier price and interesting role in firearms history. After all you may not see very many of them in 10-15 years, and most definately not for the $130 dollars I paid for mine in excellent condition.
