Broken firing pin on Rossi, how easy to fix?

A friend of mine broke the hammer-mounted firing pin on his Rossi revolver during dry-fire practice. Is this something that he can fix himself (replace pin or hammer), will he need a smith, or does it have to go back to the factory? I don't know the specific model, but he says it is a 2" snubby .357. Thanks.

My brother had the same thing happen on his Rossi .357 snubbie sevral years ago. He wound up shipping it back to them for service. He should contact Rossi and see if it's something they need to look at or if they can ship him the part. However, it might require fitting so unless he's very handy he's probably better off sending it in.

That Rossi is like the S&W. The firing pin (hammer nose) can be replaced pretty easily without even taking the hammer out of the revolver. BUT (and it's a big BUT) you have to know what you are doing. In other words, I recommend sending it back to Rossi's service or taking it to a pistol smith.
