Brief description of what happened (bit more than the title of the post) for those of us with slow internet?

A 15 year old was at home with his 12 year old sister when two home invaders attempted to break in. 15 year old got his father's "assault rifle" and fired, hitting one of the men multiple times. They fled and were found at a nearby hospital. It sounds like their neighbors had also been burglarized recently. The 15 year old's dad is a sheriff's deputy.

Two (?) suspects broke into the house. Boy who lived at the house used "assault" rifle and shot one of the intruders several times. The boy's 12 y.o. sister was there, too. The wounded burglar was flown to the hospital. The other intruder was caught. Happened in Harris Co. YT entry dated Dec. 24/2012.

So if "we have to keep guns out of the hands of children" and "we have to get rid of assault rifles" either went through, then they wouldn't have been able to defend themselves...makes me think the anti agenda is again proven wrong. Of course they won't admit that.

If I'm not mistaken, here in California the father could be charged with a crime for not preventing his underage child from accessing his firearms.

I can't tell you how proud I would be if he were my son.

Quick, get that man a replacement rifle. Apparently "Assault Weapons" are specifically designed to kill multiple people instantly, so his must be defective since it only injured one of the two men.

Interesting enough, as a Texas resident, the news showed the teen in another state, who shot a classmate in school with a shot gun, yet seemed to not report on an assault rifle doing a good deed close to home. Did I miss it? Guns doing good, ignore it as there's no excitement. Guns doing bad, make the kid a star and more will follow.

Probably not. Didn't hear a peep about it here in NE Ohio.

Clearly the mainstream press has no interest in anything that shows guns in a positive light. NBC, ABC and CBS still have had virtually nothing on the Fast and Furious scandal, which is already faded from public view and replaced by Newtown and Aurora. And speaking of Aurora, has any major media outlet mentioned that the theater the shooter chose to go to was the ONLY one in the area that was posted as a Gun Free location?
