Nathan Lee Johnsonbaugh, 20, was charged with reckless handling of a firearm, shooting into an occupied dwelling, and the use of a firearm in commission of a felony.

Police say Johnsonbaugh was firing shots at cans that were propped up on a tire in the yard of his brother's residence on Indian Trail Road just after 7 p.m. One of the bullets passed through a wall of the home and struck his brother, 26-year-old Darren Johnsonbaugh, in the back. The victim was flown by Nightengale helicopter to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Police spokeswoman Debbie George said Darren Johnsonbaugh was in stable condition last night.

Suffolk Police received a call to the Waffle House on Holland Road in reference to a report of a gun shot victim, just before 7:30 p.m., police spokeswoman Debbie George said.

"On arrival, they learned that the incident occurred at the victim's residence on Indian Trail Road and the victim was brought to the restaurant after the incident." She said the man appeared to have suffered a single gun shot wound to the back.

The victim was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital by a Nightingale helicopter.



George said his condition was unknown. Monday night.

Police are interviewing witnesses, to determine how the victim was shot, she said.

I know after being shot the first place I would goto is Waffle House, great medical treatment there:banghead: this whole thig happened about 5 miles from my house, I drove by aparently just after it happened, looked like a FOP/IAFF fest.

Might he have been driven up there because that is where the chopper could land??? I recall Life Flight needing to land in our neighborhood once in Round Rock. There WAS no place. Between power lines and trees, no chopper was going to get in there.

It ended up on a nearby main road, with traffic stopped, and the person in need had to be brought out (in this case by ambulance) to the chopper.

Just saying, there may actually have been a reason.

Although not updated on the websites yet the person shot is being charged with obstruction of justice and tampering with evidence. HE is aparently claiming he was shot in a drive by at the Waffle house now. I saw that on the rerun news at noon channel.

Could be that after his brother shot him, he was trying to get him to the hostipal. The Waffle House probably smelled good as he drove by and he got hungry. Seriously, anyone who could manage to create this really stupid scenario would "actually" think that way.
