Browning 1922 Stovepipes

Hi, I'm new here. I have a beautiful chrome 1922 Browning 1922 32ACP that is a wicked shooter. The only problem I keep having is "stovepipes" on ejections. I have changed the firing pin and the fp spring. I have tried different ammo and my own reloads. I have stripped it and cleaned thoroughly. And I have checked the extractor and it appears to work perfectly. Anybody have any ideas on what else I can try? This is a very frustrating problem on a very nice pistol.

What brand of ammunition are you shooting?
I have best luck with RWS/Geco and Sellier and Bellot in mine.
You mention the gun has been chrome plated. A too thick layer of chrome plate on the breechface, extractor and extractor channel may be preventing the extractor from pivoting far enough away from the fired case to allow it to clear the ejection port and the casing is then hanging up on the extractor. HTH

OK, thanks to a posting by Onmilo about a year ago, I now know what the problem is (I think:banghead. He posted this picture:

and made this observation:

The firing pin pushes the extractor out away from the slide and this little piece kicks the casing free and directs the casing to the right and out of the ejection port.

I thinnk he's right, and what's more, that little piece is missing from my slide. Now the big problem; I don't even know what this thing is called, much less know where to get one. Any ideas? And what supposedly holds this thing in - is it just a pressure fit?
