I love my A-Bolt and have no complants or issues with it whatsoever, its a great rifle. Can't comment on the Steyr though...

I have Steyr Pro-Hunter in .270 Win. It came with wood and synthetic stock (adjustable length of pull) and I have 10-round mag on it. I like shooting it but I don't hunt and only shoots papers and gongs. Very accurate and the single-stage trigger is supperb. The things I don't like about it includes the butter knife bolt handle and the way it gets too close to the scope leaving little room for my thumb. I had to use high scope rings to clear. Also, the bushing inside the action just in front of the barrel can get mis-aligned when cleaning. You won't be able to insert the bolt fully when it happens until you get it properly aligned. Easy to do, but Murphy has a habit of showing up when times are tight. The tang-mounted safey is easy to use but it is made of plastic (if it matters to you). I also read about how hard it is to re-barrel these rifles, just in-case you get to that point.

I have had 4 different A-Bolts, all of them 30-06, Meddalion 308, WhiteGold Meddalion 300 winn mag, and 7mm cut the same hole at 100 yards with factory ammo. Great gun, and very accurate. The only drawback on the WG Meddalion is it was too pretty to hunt with, I was afraid I would scratch it.
