I found the manufacture dates on the Browning website, but I'm still having trouble pinning it down.

Under the receiver there are the letter "OG" (the "O" might be a zero, but I'm not sure), and under that are the numbers "749xx". Thanks for the help.

Oh, and it's a Light 12, made in Belgium with "BROWNING ARMS COMPANY St. Louis Mo & Montreal PQ" on the left side of the barrel. Also, is there any way of knowing if the barrel is full or modified on my gun? There are no screw-in chokes, so I'm assuming it's a FULL choke, but again I have no idea.

The G says it is a lite-12.

The serial number says it was made in 1957.

The choke marking is stamped on the left side of the barrel near the receiver.

* = Full
*- = Imp Mod
** = Mod
**- = Imp Cyl
**$ = Skeet
*** = Cyl

Excellent info! I didn't think it was that old. I'm even more smitten with her now! I'll try to post up some pictures. Thanks for the help.

Also, I'm still curious about the "O" marking.

How do you determine year of manufacture?

I believe my father bought mine before I was born....

Well, personally?

I have a little shirt pocket book I bought at a gun show for $4.95 about 25 years ago.

PM me the details & serial number and I'll see what I can make up to tell you! :D
