While I could give or take the overmold material, overall I do like the Hogue/Vanguard combo.

If you can find a howa lightening stock its the same shape as the hogue but no overmold.

Does anybody know if the bluing on the Browning's hold up to adverse weather conditions?

If they havent changed it since my A-bolt Stalker, it should be fine. Even 10years out here wernt all that hard on my gun.
My 700sps rusted before i got it out of the box lol.

Medallions just have prettier stocks they don't have anything to make them shoot better. I've got an A-bolt stalker 7wsm I'd like to run next to that X-bolt to compare. I've never seen a factory rifle shoot as good as it and had a lot of rifles come and go over the years but none add up unless they are high dollar custom builds. I've got a spot on my farm that's 500 yards that's a good place to test. Not real long range but long enough to see if one hums or not.

In fact I don't understand how a pencil barrel shoots like it does but all I can figure is the barrel harmonics are just perfect on it with my loads but it even shoots the factory loads extremely well. I have sat in a lawn chair with shooting sticks and literally sat and heart punched deer at long ranges at a couple places I hunt. One evening I had three laying literally almost on top of each other and the distance to my chair was ranged 435 yards.

Only problem is that lightweight gun kicks like a dang mule so it literally only gets shot during deer season anymore. I really need to make myself test it at some range sessions to make sure it's still humming like it was and the barrel not getting burned out.

The bluing holds up, my brother is the worst person to own a gun, he had many rifles including the sister rifle to mine I his wet apartment. Browning was the only blued gun not to rust.

Mine shoots the factory ammo great also, 7wsm is very underrated cartridge for whatever reason and doesn't have the following. Easy to tune and inherently accurate just like the 300wsm. I've seriously considered doing a custom 7-300 wsm throated for 180 hybrids.

Other then the neck being short the 7wsm is about perfect, the 7-300 fixes the short neck some, makes brass easier to get. Loose some powder but the wsm has enough it won't make much difference. Hope lapua will make brass one day but brass still may be a pain to get. I picked up a few boxes of win 7wsm 150 from a shop up where my dad lives, $38 they have been on the shelf for years by there lot numbers but I can't reload it that cheap now. There's a few more boxes I need to grab when I'm up next.

7wsm is an enlightened choice. Wish it was more common.

While I'm very happy with my 280rem ABI, if I were to build a custom do-all hunting rifle from the ground up, 7wsm might get the nod. At the very least, it's in the running.
