I have always loved my lever guns and have an extensive collection of Winchesters, Marlins and Savages. Recently picked up my first BLR. It is one of the older models with the steel receiver chambered in .308. The price was very right so I picked it up without shooting it before hand. Since then, I have noticed a problem that is making me crazy. It seems impossible to pull back the hammer without making a great deal of noice. With my other leverguns, I am able to depress the trigger and then ease back the hammer to avoid the "click". I can then release the trigger to engage the sear and the hammer with stay back. This has come in handy many times when a whitetail is only yards away. With the BLR, the mere act of depressing the trigger creates a very audible "creek" with a very pronounced "click" at the end. It almost sounds like a noisy spring. I've lubed it every way I know how to no avail. Anybody got a fix?

Sounds like an awful lot of noise, but I am vey curious about this "noice" of which you speak. It sounds rather irritating :neener:

I would call up browning and see what they have to say.

I also have an early model BLR in .308, i.e., magazine not flush, made in Belgium. I have no such noise in mine. When I ease the hammer back while holding the trigger, it's silent.
